Director of Workforce Development and Capacity Building

Sonia Donnelly serves as the Director of Workforce Development and Capacity Building with over 20 years of experience in strategic planning, program development, training, and coaching. In this role, she leads our enrollment team as they work on the ground to support outreach and enrollment programs nationwide.

Prior to joining Transform Health, Sonia served as the Director of Programs for the Palmetto Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to innovative strategies to address South Carolina’s social and economic challenges. She was instrumental in the creation of a nonprofit insurance education and enrollment hub, a sustainable social impact model that has been replicated in other communities.

Sonia began her career in the crisis intervention and suicide prevention field. At the United Way’s Hotline in Charleston, South Carolina, she was a lead trainer, facilitator, and manager, ensuring the 24/7/365 operation of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and 2-1-1 information and referral line. Most notably, the crisis line participated in groundbreaking research that led to the implementation of standardized suicide prevention training and evidence-based best practices across the national network. This movement to legitimize crisis lines across the country built the foundation for the recent implementation of 988.

Sonia has a master’s degree in business administration, with a concentration in business management and leadership, from Limestone College, and a bachelor’s degree in economics and politics from the University of Manchester, UK. In her free time, Sonia likes to spend time with her family, watch plays and musicals, read books, and travel. Her favorite football team is Manchester United, and she likes to watch F1 racing.
