Sophie Yang

Program Associate

Sophie Yang is a Program Associate at Transform Health with experience in social determinants of health education, data analysis, and project management. At Transform Health, Sophie supports stakeholder engagement by creating materials for roundtable discussions, coordinating with managed care plans, and providing data analysis to identify provider information gaps.

Prior to joining Transform Health, Sophie was a Teaching Assistant at the University of California, Berkeley where she introduced undergraduate students to the complex social, ethical, and political issues intertwined within public health. As one of the Head Coordinators of the program, Sophie was responsible for leading a team in designing lesson plans, developing exams and coursework, and leading student discussions.

Sophie also has experience working with Federally Qualified Health Centers to provide telehealth access to patients who are low-income and faced increased barriers to health care. Using health center data and effective communication strategies to inform her work, she worked closely with a global health care non-profit to design global and community health care fundraising campaigns to secure PPE and training for rural pediatric hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic. Sophie is also skilled at applying human-centered design principles as a way to co-create solutions to global health and global conservation problems. As a member of the Conservation and Technology Fung Fellowship, Sophie focused on the effects rising temperatures have upon toxic algae growth and food sources for local tribal communities.

Sophie earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Health with minors in Public Policy and Data Science from the University of California, Berkeley. Currently residing in Los Angeles, Sophie can be found out on the archery field, in botanical gardens learning all types of plant names, and at home perfecting the art of brewing a cup of Oolong tea.
